@louloumatou Cut me some slack, I just got it on Monday! The Whipped Gelly is basically AV gel with glycerin and oils, I like it. I was really surprised at how buttery the Shine & Define is, but it didn’t make my hair dry. And I really hope you like the CQ and SL, they are awesome!

I totally agree with your review. I tried yesterday and i couldn’t use it as a wash and go either…and the gel really didn’t help :-/ I did however try a twist out and definition was great!

I purchased this product shortly after I BC’d and it did nothing for my hair. I tried it several times but was not satisfied with the results at all. It smelled great though. Ended up throwing it out. I do love Oyin’s Burnt Sugar Pomade and the Honey Hemp is nice. I’ve tried their Greg’s Juice and Whipped Pudding. Not to impressed with those. Although the whipped pudding worked well as a body moisturizer. Thanks for the review!

Aww…I love the shine and define. The hold really is soft. I’ve never used it for wash and go’s, but it does very well for me for twisting.

Thanks for the review Elle. I’ve been using the shine and define for about 2-3 weeks now and I like it. I really just use it as a shine enhancer and moisturizer when I’ve done a washngo. I just use a small dollop and scrunch thru wet hair or I use when my hair is dry. I’ve been two strand twisting my hair before bed lately and I also use it to help take out my twist. As always much love and take care!

Oh I just realized I forgot to mention before but, when I do my washngo I use the shine and define after I’ve used a LI and styler (lately that’s been the KBB Super Silky and JessiCurl Rockin Ringlets)

ITA on this product not really working for WnG as I tried in a few mths back and it was a no go, it IS good for protective styles though, so I use it with the WP.

@curlmebella I got it from PacSun, it was like $8!! I was like yoink! Yoink is my word for, “I need to get that like all kinds of now.” haha

@ReconGirl2006 You are welcome, darling! Yea, I came home and she had my Oyin stuff waiting for me…what a sweet homecoming, lol!

(Snickering) at the your little “boo boo”. Good thing your mom can get you more Oyin huh? Thanks for the product review, watching this made my decision official. I already thought this product was a no go for me, other natural hair videos I’ve watched always layer this product with other products to get some use out of it & the style they used it for was twist or braids. So yeah, I don’t need this for my twists.

I know I’m on the late bus with this, but I *just* saw your vid :). Our hair is very, very similar in terms of your description (“3c/4a”, thick, low porosity, coarse crown, etc) and when my hair was longer (and natural), Oyin Shine and Define worked best for me on dry, stretched hair. I used it for bantu knots on dry stretched hair w/fab results. You may want to try that route and see how it works out for you.

    • denimpixie

@xaymacalena Thanks! I decided to use it to slick back my ponytail and it works great for that with a soft hold. I almost never stretch my hair so I’m not sure I would ever get around to doing bantu knots on dry hair…lol, I’m really lazy.
